About The Girls' Network

The Girls’ Network believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to recognise their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.

The charity’s mission is to empower and inspire 14-19 year old girls from the least advantaged communities by connecting them with a mentor and a network of professional role models who are women. To help build their confidence, self-esteem and aspirations. Many of the girls they work with don’t believe they can have high-status careers or achieve their ambitions, and may have only been exposed to narrow, stereotypical experiences of work.

The Girls' Network supported 1,164 girls aged 14-19 across more than 60 schools and colleges across the UK through 1-2-1 mentoring in 2022. 93% of the girls said that, after going through the programme, they felt more positive about their future.

Dr Sam’s Skincare generous financial support will help the charity to widen its reach. Members of the Dr Sam’s Skincare team will also be involved as mentors. The charity needs to recruit around 1,000 new mentors a year to meet the needs of the girls it works with and Dr Sam’s hope that some of their engaged community will also welcome the opportunity to join the scheme.

A note from Dr Sam

"I’m delighted to announce that we’re partnering with The Girls' Network, so that, as a team, we can offer mentorship and role-modeling to girls from the least advantaged communities. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have had the support and advice from so many great people whilst building my brand so in the spirit of giving back our aim is to help girls achieve their potential at a key point in their lives. Teenage girls are currently experiencing an avalanche of mental health issues - only 14% of girls surveyed by the Girlguiding organisation in 2021 say they feel happy most of the time, down from 41% in 2009 - so it’s incredible to hear from The Girls' Network that 91% of girls who’ve been mentored say that they feel much more confident."
