The Lipstick Effect

Beauty is escapism. It’s always been that way. Think of how lipstick sales spiked after the 2nd World War. And how many of us have sought solace in the comfort of our beauty routines as a balm for our anxiety throughout the pandemic. Whilst my personal skincare philosophy doesn’t permit much frivolity (function is the priority!) I do feel that working hard on my skin allows for a little more free spiritedness in my make-up routine. And if spending a bit extra on an Hermès lipstick makes me feel good in these difficult times, so be it.

So in this week’s IGTV I wanted to share the cosmetic treats that have been lifting my spirits as I put together a look for a date night (Valentines’ is just around the corner!). Beautiful design, elegant formulation and flattering finishes are common threads throughout, making these brands firm staples in my toolkit.
